About Avivit
“Israeli Dance in Holland with Avivit” has become one of the more popular classes of modern (folk) dancing. For children and adults alike, Avivit dances, gives workshops, performs and teaches with contagious enthusiasm. And while everyone wonders what the source of all her energy is, she goes to any length, each and every time, giving all she’s got (a friend).
Finishing her last year in high school, Avivit met her husband Bart. After her military service, they left for Italy, where she got acquainted with the Latin culture and learned to speak Italian. After three years they decided to have children in Amsterdam. Although it took Avivit two successive pregnancies to start dancing again, this time it was for real. In ´98, Avivit joined the “Israeli Theatre in Holland” which, at the time, was rehearsing for the musical “Kazablan”. She participated and performed in this musical and most productions that were to follow (The Palestinian; Fiddler On The Roof; Salach Shabati; Mishpachat Tsanani and recently Kuni Lemel and Totzeret Ha'Aretz). Her main contribution to these productions is choreography and dance coaching. In addition, she finds the time to play a part in each of these productions as well. By the time, Avivit received the diplomas that enabled her to legally teach dance classes, she joined the association “Dans In School” where, until today, she teaches children of all ages in schools all over Holland. Avivit then started her first course teaching children in primary school, and became motivated by friends and acquaintances to initiate an alternative Israeli folkdance course in Amsterdam. This particular course has grown over the past 12 years into one of the more popular cultural happenings for aficionados of Israeli folk dancing in Holland and abroad. If you come to Holland, do not miss Avivit! |
